Enterprise Connect 2024: AI is new and old already

Enterprise Connect was held again this year at the Gaylord Palms in Orlando, FL. It is a beautiful resort and conference center, used to be jokingly referred to as the “Biodome” by repeat attendees because of the greenery and ponds (gators and koi, oh my!) in the expansive atrium. During the conference it was quite a contrast to the many vendor banners and signages found throughout the premise.

The annual event is truly a lens into the enterprise communications industry, even going back over a decade ago as VoiceCon with the emergence of voice-over-IP (VoIP) which eventually jumpstarted the unified communications and collaboration (UC&C) businesses. Then in 2010 the show rebranded as Enterprise Connect to better encompass the evolving business communications landscape and audience’s expectations. Since then a few major themes and “chatter” have dominated the show, such as omnichannel, cloud computing, unified communications/contact center-as-a-Service (UC/CCaaS), and of course, this year it’s artificial intelligence.
